Easy Hot Dog Recipe
Are you ready for an easy hot dog recipe that will make your taste buds ask for more and more? If so, go get your aprons and chef hats and let’s get started!
This hot dog recipe is easy peasy, but you may need the help of a grown-up especially when it comes to working with a hot oven. So make sure you have someone to help you. In return, you can give them a hot dog or two… I’m sure they’ll enjoy it as much as you!
Hot dogs are great by themselves, but if you want to make a complete meal you can make some fries, a salad or some macaroni and cheese to go with them.
So let’s get started by gathering our ingredients!
- Hog Dogs
- Buns
- Mayonnaise
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Relish
Ingredients:
Hot dogs. Get whatever hot dogs you like best. There are many different brands, so ttry them out and see which one you like best.
Hot dog buns. My favourite are the brioche hot dog buns when they are available in the store. Sometimes they are not available, so other buns have to do.
Mayonnaise. Most people don’t use mayonnaise on hotdogs, but I like to add a thin layer to each side. It’s just that much more delicious!
Ketchup and mustard. You can’t have hot dogs without ketchup and mustard! So make sure you have these before getting started.
Relish. Get the sweet relish because it tastes better. If you don’t like relish, you can always go without it. The hot dogs are still delicious.
Instructions
Step 1: Fill a medium-sized pot with water and bring to a boil.
Step 2: Add the hot dogs and let them boil for about 5-6 minutes until they begin to puff up a bit.
Step 3: Bring them to the temperature as instructed on the hot dog package. Use a tong to pull out a wiener and then insert a thermometer. Get a grownup to help you with this step.
Step 4: While the hot dogs are boiling, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then open the hot dog buns and put them on the top shelf in the oven and broil for about 3 minutes, until they begin to brown a little.
Step 5: When the hot dogs and buns are done, transfer them to a plate.
Step 6: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on each side of the hot dog bun. Then plop on the hot dog along with the ketchup, mustard and relish.
